What’s your mission? What’s your purpose?

Sometimes it feels like there are more explanations for why people can’t change their diet and lifestyle than there are different species of bacteria in the soil.

Maybe more.

What got me thinking about this is the notion of semi-healthy treats.

For every diet on the planet, some companies swoop in and start producing “healthy” versions of the same foods you used to enjoy.

These treats often become staples of otherwise motivated dieters. Rarely are they healthy enough for people to see the results they are looking for with the diet in the first place.

Gluten-free snacks come to mind. Gluten is far from the only bad thing in grains. If you have a very serious gluten sensitivity then gluten-free foods will be much better but just because something is gluten-free doesn’t mean it is good for you.

“I need something crunchy”

“I just have a sweet tooth”

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what my mission and purpose are with this farm and my life in general. If your reason for dieting is to look a little better or to drop a few pounds so you can get back to eating the foods you “love” that ain’t gonna work.

You need a valid purpose to make lasting change.

For me, it’s come down to this. I want to have a family one day and I want to be able to support them with the ranch. Most ranchers are broke. It won’t be easy. There are other longer-term concerns I have about the state of rural America that I hope to make an impact on as well.

Am I going to sacrifice years of my life, and certainly years of my health, because I want my food to feel a certain way for five minutes while I’m eating it today? Am I going to miss my grandchild’s marriage or seeing my great-grandchildren because I can’t put down the bag of crunchy snacks?

That’s me, yours might be different but you need one.

Find something you care about more in the world than food. If you can’t, then you have some serious thinking to do about what this gift of life means to you.

We’ve been hopelessly misled for decades about health and I have so much sympathy for the people who followed all the wrong advice in pursuit of their mission and purpose. That being said, the information is out there now. Meat’s not killing anyone, certainly not high-quality meat like we raise here.

If you have any questions about how my dad is 73 with no medications, still able to run high-stress rescue squad calls, do farm work, and recover from an injury faster than almost anyone his age, we’d love to help. Just contact using the email in the footer on this webpage.

Without a purpose, it won’t do anything but hey, we’ll give you the information.

One of the main things we do is eat plenty of meat from well-raised animals like ours.

We can help you with that part. Even high-quality meat is cheaper than the semi-healthy treats that hold you back when you look at the nutrients and protein. It’s a hell of a deal when you look at the cost of a chronic disease.

Staying laser-focused on my purpose,

John Michael

There are so many farms out there that are fueling the industrial agriculture system and don’t understand that our food system is on a collision course.  We are doing everything we can to produce meat you feel comfortable eating and a business you feel comfortable supporting.  You can have both and support a growing movement to change the way food is produced forever.  Check out our ranch and see if we’re the right fit for you.
